As their emergency vehicle sped toward Ground Zero, the reality sank in. David recalled saying to his partner, ‘Oh my God… that’s something big.’

His first action upon arriving was to set up a barricade to keep civilians safe, utilizing chairs to shield the area from debris—an eerie premonition of the chaos about to unfold.
