Thanks to a generous donation of a desktop flight simulator and support from the Port of Bremerton, an aging firehouse has been reborn as a vibrant educational hub. Initially, the BACE team sought to design a single-seat electric motorglider, the Spark Solo. However, they soon realized that complexity might overwhelm their young apprentices. Enter the eXenos, an electric-powered Sonex Xenos motorglider that offered a more accessible starting point. With a hefty glide ratio and simplicity in assembly, it became the ideal project to pique the kids’ curiosity and allow them to get hands-on experience.
Michael’s collaboration with ZeroAvia led to the acquisition of a kit, setting the stage for an educational endeavor that would not just teach kids about flight but actively involve them in the construction of an aircraft.
